For me, yoga and shibari/kinbaku have a lot in common. A good yoga class begins in silence, you sink into yourself, everyday life is left behind and the outside world becomes unimportant. You are in the here and now.
Full concentration on the moment and what is happening inside you.
It can be regenerative, slow, but also very demanding. You reach your limits. It is wise to respect them, to feel what is good for you at the moment, even if you want more. The art is to climb the mountain of the moment and to enjoy the happy moment while safely walking on the ridge.
Silence at the end of the yoga class is a very important element. With your back on the floor you lie down in the „corpse pose“ (called shavasana). In a state of full relaxation you listen to your inner self, noticing what has changed.
I experience a (shibari) session in a very similar way. You travel through your whole body, and at the end it can feel as if you had been reborn – a little bit as if you had pressed a reset button.
